JOANNEUM RESEARCH (JR) (with more than 300 researchers) focuses on applied research and technology development. The Energy Research Group, part of the JR Institute of Water, Energy and Sustainability, has broad expert knowledge in specific energy technologies and energy systems as well as in their interrelation with industry, the environment and society. The Energy Research group is a partner in national and international networks like the IEA (International Energy Agency), IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) and UNFCCC (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change). The competences of the Energy Research Group comprise technological, economical, ecological and social aspects of various energy technologies and systems including agricultural and forest land use. JR has worked (and is still working) in numerous EU and other international and national project on topics related to post-carbon society, climate change and policies. In numerous of these projects, JR leads the work package on dissemination and networking, which in most cases also includes the creation of a webbased database and a web forum, etc.
