FEEM is a non-profit, non-partisan research institution established to carry out research in the field of economics and sustainable development. It has become a leading international research centre and one of its principal aims is to promote interaction between academic, industrial and public policy spheres in order to comprehensively address concerns about economic development and environmental degradation. FEEM conducts research on a wide range of climate change and sustainability, energy and economic issues, achieving a leading position in the international research community. In the specific area of sustainable development, FEEM research covers a variety of issues: sustainable management of natural resources, the economics of natural hazards and extreme events, and the use of indicators to measure sustainability and growth beyond GDP. FEEM has proven experience in coordinating European projects and scientific networks and is the privileged interlocutor of a number of policy institutions, among which the IPCC, the World Bank, the European Commission, Italian Ministries, Regions and local municipalities. Finally, FEEM has extensive experience in the dissemination of theoretical and applied research. Every year FEEM organises seminars, workshops, and large-scale conferences, attracting in the last three years over 15,000 participants. Working papers, policy briefs, journals and books are evidence of FEEM's research effort.
