Energy Cities Annual Conference: European Association of Local Authorities in Energy Transition

1 June 2016 to 3 June 2016

Bornova (Izmir), Turkey

Because of its geographical and strategic location as a bridge between the East and the West, ancient and modern culture, Turkey is a particularly interesting spot to discuss the transformation of urban landscapes. Despite current political difficulties, Turkish local authorities are committed to making the cities livable, using local resources efficiently and involving local people. By committing to the Covenant of Mayors, for example, the local level aligns with current European and international energy and climate strategies on job creation, enhancing standards of living and building a low-carbon economy.
